Galabandh

Galabandh is one of the prominent jewellery pieces in Uttrakhand and is adorned by the women by Kumaoni, Garhwali, Bhotiya, and Jaunsari women.As the name suggests, Galabandh is a choker necklace and is adorned around the neck by the married women.

Galabandh, the ornamental belt is designed with intricate detailing. The golden square-shaped patches are fixed on a red-colored belt with the help of a thread.

Hansuli

Hansuli is a traditional silver necklace worn by Garhwali, Kumaoni, Jaunsari, and Bhotiya women of Uttarakhand. It is also known as "Khagwali" in Garhwali. The Hansuli is a simple yet gorgeous piece of jewelry that is often worn on special occasions, such as weddings and festivals

Pahunchi, regarded as a symbol of marital auspiciousness, are gold bangles worn by married women during special occasions. These bangles are particularly favored in the Kumaon and Garhwal regions, serving as another significant piece of jewelry for married women.

Also known as nathuli, tehri nath is a big nose ring in the moon’s shape, worn by both urban and rural Garhwali women. Known for the brilliant craftsmanship that goes into making it, including intricate stonework and Kundan, tehri nath is available in stunning patterns inspired by flora and fauna. Like the other nose rings, this is also one of the most important ornaments in bridal jewellery and the centre of attention for brides.

Kumaoni women in Uttarakhand typically wear a long skirt called a ghagra with a blouse or kurti and a chunni. They also wear pichoras, a yellow garment with silver and gold tatting, on their wedding day. Other traditional clothing includes a kameez (shirt) as a blouse, lehenga, odani, sarong, and khorpi.
